Unfortunately, Samsung's UN65C8000 does not include a pair of 3D glasses. Starter kits are available, however, that include two pairs of 3D glasses.

Although the UN65C8000 will only be offered in a Edge-Lit LED array, the array itself offers a feature called Precision Dimming. This feature acts similarly to Local Dimming, in which the LEDs are automatically and selectively dimmed to produce richer colors.

Both the UN65C8000 and the PN59D6500 offer a great picture and rich sound; however, these TVs actually use different panel technologies to display similar content.

The PN59D6500 is a 2011 Plasma TV, while the UN65C8000 is a discontinued 2010 LED TV:

The Samsung LED Televisions use LEDs to backlight and LCD Panel. The lamp life is estimated up to 100 thousand hours, enjoys a tremendous following of enthusiasts, and translates into years of enjoyment of an affirmed, reliable and trusted technology.

Plasma Televisions operate using a combination of gas and glass to illuminate the individual pixels, or light sections, within the screen. The life of a plasma panel is up to 100 thousand hours, allows an expanded viewing angle over LCD, and has a response time as fast as .001ms. All of the Samsung Plasma units have a feature called Screen Burn-In Protection, which helps reduce the effects of static images and provide a quality image for the life of the panel.

LED-LCD Televisions offer a great picture without image-retention and smooth image motion using the Auto Motion Plus processing. Plasma Televisions offer faster response times, as well as appealing to customers replacing a tube television with a glass screen they are familiar and comfortable with. And, due to advances in technology, both plasma and LCD screens can work well even in the brightest rooms.

Yes you can watch 2D. You can also convert 2D to 3D which is also pretty cool. Admittedly not as dramatic as true 3D.

All Samsung 3D TVs will have the ability to accept and display a 2D signal. The Samsung 3D TVs are primarily 2D displays with the ability to toggle 3D on and off.

It is very thin. The edges are less than a half inch thick. Then a little farther in it is about an inch. I can't really measure it accurately. Remember the difference you are talking about is only a quarter of an inch.

I'm very sorry for the confusion. Although the 46 and 55 inch versions of the C8000 are in fact .9" thick, the 65" version is actually 1.2" thick.
