Check your Apple power adapter. It should say "110-240 volts, 50-60 Hertz" On it, if it does then you can just plug it into a European Outlet with just a plug adapter, no conversion required. the 110-240 means that the power adapter operates at any power between 110 and 240. Laptop power adapters are already transformers because they have to take an Alternating current between 110 and 240 and turn it into a direct current and then step it down to usually 19.5 volts which a laptop can use. No harm in using a travel surge protector though....
