John,
I would be very wary of buying this laptop! I have the new model and have experienced the same thing. While there aren't many personal reviews out yet for the 572 model, some are coming in that are indicating the same problems. Plus, the one I have doesn't even have the correct wireless card in it as indicated by the box and specs sheet for what it is supposed to have and indicated by the system information on the computer what it does have (old Broadcom 802.11n: the one with all the problems). I have read many reviews where Acer's response (and my own experience) is to reload the driver, refresh windows, and then if that doesn't work, send it in for a different model and hope you get a new one that is fixed, which most people found the new model wasn't any better; granted that was for the 571. However, it seems that is to be the same for the 572. The design is great but clearly Acer shortcut on some very important issues. Not a sign of a good company (take my advice with companies that build flashy things but not quality control: AVOID AT ALL COST!!!)
