I have an old TV that I use on my porch with a Uverse cable box from AT&T, I want to be able to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime on it, will the Roku 3 work on it or do I need to purchase a newer HDTV? What will I need to hook it up? I have wifi with my cable company. The TV in my bedroom is wifi ready so I didn't need to do anything to set that one up.
The Roku 3 will not work on older TVs that do not have an HDMI port, as it is the only output that the device has. However, the Roku LT does support older TVs that have A/V cable jacks, which would be the red, white, and yellow plugins.
You can use it with your old tv. Just get the RCA/composite cable. That have the red, yellow, ando white ends that you connect the Roku and the TV together. All the features won't work like the wireless headphones but you will be able to watch shows.
The Roku 3 only uses an HDMI output so if you have the older red white and yellow cables, or coaxial cable then this version will not work. The Roku LT or any Roku 1 versions will work.
It shouldn't. If you're asking for the quality of the image I cannot comment on it as I have LCD TV but the I find it to be perfect for viewing shows. There tends to be a lag in the beginning but it get better quickly
You do not have to pay a monthly fee for the device. But, if you want Netflix, Hulu or something of the like, that is monthly. But, to just get a Roku device, it's a one time price.
