No, I do not beleive it does. We bought this player to play standard DVDs and music CDs for a TV in a different room. A Blue Ray compatible player is generally more expensive and has more features and outputs. I find it helpful to go to the manufacturer's website and download the PDF for a particular model when shopping for a new device. It helps to compare features and see if it's what I'm looking for. For us, it was having a component output since the tv we're hooking it up to only has one HDMI input and that one is taken already. Here is an excerpt from the PDF for this model:
