They provide a hollow tube, with a hole near the top. Speaker wire can be fed through the tube and there is a relief notch in the base of the stand to pass the wire out from under.
The hole is not sized to allow passage of RCA plugs, banana plugs, etc. If the speaker connection is other than just the spring clamp on the wire end, then those ends would need to be applied after feeding the wire through the stand. An alternative, if the wire is black, is to run it on the exterior with wire ties or zip ties, and I'm sure that would not look bad.
