My MK5065GSX HD crashed on my Sony laptop (VPCS111FM). I had tried a Seagate 7200RPM 500GBSATA HD with 16MB Cache but I could not load Windows 7 from my recovery disks. I spoke with Sony and they recommended a 512 Sector drive. Is this drive a 512 sector drive and will this be compatible with my Sony Laptop? Thank you. B. Perez
No it will not be compatible whit your sony vaio you need to buy an interna hardrive whit SERIAL ATA-150 on it check best buy page and insert ATA-150 check dimension I think is a 3.5
Yes, it would be compatible with that laptop. It uses SATA II hard drives and this is a SATA II, not SATA III drive (it's mislabeled on the website as SATA III).
SATA II (3.0Gb/s transfer speed) is also backwards compatible for SATA I (1.5Gb/s data transfer speed).
SATA III's (6.0Gb/s) are backwards compatible with SATA II's.
This drive will work in your computer, but it is smaller than the original drive (500 vs 640). If the smaller drive will not give you the storage you need, for $20 more you can double the size to 1 TB.

Toshiba - 1TB Internal Serial ATA 2.6 Hard Drive for Laptops
It's actually SATA II, it's mislabeled on the website, but yes it will definitely work with your laptop. It's also backwards compatible for older SATA I hard drive types too.
Computer is a Toshiba Satellite M 45 S 2653. It has a failed 80 GB Toshiba HD # MK8026GAX. Will this hard drive be compatible with this application? Thanks!
