It works alright. If you are webcaming or using it for just recreational usage then it is fine. It is 8 megapixel which should be enough, unless you are wanting to take pictures for a photography class or for other high quality photos. I, personally, prefer to use the camera on my phone. Taking pictures with a tablet just seems ridiculously bulky and annoying.by

Hello there Sci_Fi.Thank you for your post. Surface has not just one, but two 720p HD integrated LifeCam cameras. You can use the front camera to have a video chat with a friend, or the rear-facing camera to record meetings and events hands-free. You can also use either camera to take photos. Not the same as Windows 8 ONLY for the fact that you cannot download programs from the web, which also means you are least likely to get a virus. I have the RT 32 with touch and type. You'll love the type cover. I love my surfaceRT, has all day battery, beautiful look, feel, and screen, and with 8.1 coming soon it's amazing. Your surface has a USB port that you can use to transfer files. If you have a USB flash drive, plug into your desktop and drag and drop the files onto the flash drive. Then remove flash drive and plug into USB port on your surface and drag the files back off of flash drive onto the surface. This can also be done if you have a SD card for your surface and a card reader on your desktop. that is how I moved all of my music files from my desktop to my surface with the SD card!by
