Hi, thank you for your question!
The Bose SoundDock Series II has been designed to connect specifically to all current iPods and has been certified by Bose to meet Apple performance standards. It will charge the Nano and all other current iPod models through the dock connection and provide you with rich and accurate sound reproduction and a spacious listening experience. The SoundDock Series II system also features an auxiliary input so you can attach other audio devices like another MP3 player, a portable CD player or music Phone. It also features an updated remote control that can switch between playlists.
For those Nano iPods that contain a FM tuner you will need to use the headset connection to listen to the tuner as the connected headphones function as the antenna for the radio. When the iPod is docked the headphones cannot be attached, therefore the FM source will mute. Connecting the to Aux input with a stereo cable will allow for the FM tuner to function.
(This answer applies to the SoundDock 10 and SoundDock Portable as well .)
