If you've never played on the Wii U, buy this now. 48 tracks, a true battle mode, and new characters make this the definitive experience. If you have played on Wii U with the DLC, it's mostly the same game. I still bought it anyway for the portability of the Switch and for the proper battle mode we deserved.

Single player is a shallow experience where you kill all enemies in the stages to advance and then fight a really tough boss. Multiplayer is the star of the game. Battle mode returns in true form and is a blast (no pun intended) to play with multiple people.
