Did not remove malware

After loading onto the PC and running a scan it indicated the computer had malware which the Webroot did not eliminate from the PC. But I could purchase some additional software to remove the malware. Not sure what to do with this software. No recommendation as it does not make sense. It was free so used Norton 360.
