The packaging is dismal. Thin cardboard housing a thin cardboard fold out. No plastic or stability here at all. But for $10, you get all 4 films on 4 bluray discs. Its worth it if you protect the casing.

There's nothing new here as far as content goes. What's new is the case. Embossed metalpack. And the addition of a 32 page booklet. If you're a true collector, go ahead and double dip. If you just want the movie, go with the cheaper earlier release, all the content is still there.

Once again, Disney has released a subpar steelbook. Seriously, are they just using recycled soda cans?? Luckily, the standard blu ray release is fantastic. Just like Ant-Man and so many Disney releases before it, The Force Awakens comes in a very thin and flimsy steelbook. Artwork, great.. Quality, poor. And if you're wondering about any additional content, fear not, every release of this film includes 2 blu ray discs and 1 dvd. So whether you buy the standard release, this steelbook, or the competitors exclusives, you get the same features on all of them. The exclusives are simply packaging. So my recommendation is to save a little bit of money and just buy the standard release as I wouldn't want to say go buy a competitors exclusive.. I did, but I'm a collector. And so did every other collector and star wars nerd. But if you just want to own the movie and aren't a collector, just buy the standard release as the steelbook just isn't worth it, Disney always selling too high for subpar quality. And if you're reading this as you just want to know if the movie is worth seeing.. Are you kidding? Of course it is. Its amazing. It makes up for the dismal prequels Lucas made us sit thru and dare I say it, it's better than Jedi.

I had no interest in seeing this movie as I mistakenly chaulked it up to being just another Hunger Games/Twilight/Divergent/what have you teen flick. While it does cater to that audience, I heard nothing but good things about the flick and eventually saw it. I just happened to be in Best Buy a week or so later and they still had one copy left of their original exclusive (standard blu ray/dvd with slipcover but included a prequel comic book) and I snatched it up. I've watched twice since buying it and still love it. Now, as far as the steelbook edition goes, unless you are an avid steelbook collector, it's not worth upgrading from the original release in my opinion. If you don't already own it then absolutely buy this edition as you can't buy the original best buy exclusive version any longer. But the most important thing to point out, and it may have been corrected, but I bought this steelbook despite already having the original best buy exclusive as the picture shows the steelbook to say "unrated directors cut". First off, there isn't a directors cut of the film. Second, the steelbook doesn't actually have this printed on it in the U.S. and lastly, the reason it's even pictured is because (and you can verify this with a simple Google search, when this film was released in the UK, the edited the film slightly to obtain a 13 rating over a 15 rating. Nothing of merit was cut, just some dialogue, a scream or two and a fraction of a second or two of thematic elements deemed too intense for a 13 rating over a 15 rating. But if you saw it, youd be hard pressed to even identify the edits. Having said that, when the film was released on blu ray in the UK, it was released "unrated" in the original United States theatrical version we all saw in the US. So nothing new for the US, just for the UK. But like I said, youd be hard pressed to even identify the diffrences. So if you don't own it, go ahead and buy this steelbook, it's great quality and nice artwork. But don't spend more money if you already own it hoping to find some extended version of the film because it doesn't exist if you saw it in a US theater.

To my knowledge, there isn't any special release of this movie. Aside from purchasing the steelbook online that will run you 2 to 3 Times the cost of the standard release. And it's not from the main retailers of "editions" (target, best buy, walmart), you would have to look it up yourself. So unless you're an avid steelbook collector, this standard release with a slipcover is just fine. Now all that was just to full in the minimum space. If you're reading this to see if the movie is worth seeing, it is. Buy it.

When I first saw this flick, I wasn't sure what to make of it. On one hand, it has brilliant sequences in the film, strong emotions, interesting premise. On the other hand, some scenes drag on forever boring me out of my mind. In the film, The Brown Bunny, the long silent driving scenes work and work flawlessly. In this film, they just don't. BUT, everything else in this film does work. And I happened upon this blu ray with a slipcover on sale for $10 so for that price, it's worth adding to the collection.
The STAR WARS saga concludes with STAR WARS EPISODE IV - a NEW HOPE, STAR WARS EPISODE V - THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and STAR WARS EPISODE VI - RETURN OF THE JEDI as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, aided by an unforgettable assortment of courageous characters, lead the Rebellion to bring balance back to the Force!

Great set. Great Price. All 3 movies on both blu ray and dvd in one set for under $50. Not much else needs said as we've all seen the movies and love them. Still waiting for a proper blu ray release of the theatrical versions but for now, my vote is this set over the steelbook individual releases. Disney just doesn't give much consideration to quality when it comes to steelbooks.

Best Buy usually has the market cornered on steelbooks, this being no exception. I enjoyed the movie alot, more than I thought I would. Of you liked Constantine, you'll like this. And this steelbook was a great find. Smooth, sturdy case and great artwork. Very happy to add it to my collection.
