I got this movie to show my girlfriend, who never saw it before. I was worried because many movies, particularly horror films do not hold up over time. Thankfully Tim Curry and the late great Jonathan Brandis' performances still hold sway. The bluray picture makes Pennywise that much creepier.
Because it was a tv miniseries, there isn't a lot of gore or swearing, but that doesn't diminish the eerieness.

How tall is it in between shelfs?
I don't know the exact dimensions, but it's about the height of a standard DVD case. The shelf is about 2/3 the depth of a DVD case. Sounds like your stuff will just fall off since it's not a 'full' platform. This keeps a low profile on the wall, and does the job to keep stuff on.
