perfect bedroom size

I used to have a 37" TV in my bedroom before I moved. That one wound up my office in the new house. It was always a bit too big for a bedroom anyway. So I tried a 24" but that was too small. But this Insignia 32" is just right! It's got a nice clear picture for a nice low price tag. What's not to like?

Fine for my needs

I needed a secondary receiver to act as a conduit for my DVD player/TV reaching 4 speakers built in to what was intended to be a home theater room but became my office. I didn't want surround sound, although this unit has the capability to do 6-channel 5.1 surround. I just wanted 4-speaker stereo plus a subwoofer. I was lucky enough to find this as an Open Box buy at 50% off, so it was a no-brainer to buy. It's served my needs perfectly with very little cash outlay.

The answer to the wired rear speakers problem

I used to be able to successfully run wiring for rear speakers in previous residences but, in my new house, it simply was not an option to wire up rear speakers for my home theater system. What to do? I asked the sales rep at Best Buy about it and she showed me this kit. It's a transmitter that takes the rear speaker outs from your amp and sends that stereo signal to a receiver placed somewhere in the room. You then wire that receiver to your rear speakers. Works great! The only thing that would be better is to have self-powered rear speakers that accept the signal directly, but that would be hugely more expensive to do and, to my knowledge, there is no such thing on the market.

My new house needed all new appliances. I did some homework and the concensus seemed to be that Whirlpool is best in its price class. Based on that and a good sale going on, I bought this one. It's very quiet, cleans well and has lots of storage space. I like having the silverware in a removable rack mounted on the door, which creates more space for dishes and makes it easy to put it all back in the drawer.

I almost bought a Surface Pro 4 for $350 more but someone made me aware of this HP. Other than a detachable keyboard and a stylus, it has everything the Surface Pro offers. At 13.3", the screen is not too small nor too large for taking on the road. The solid state hard drive is super fast; the backlit keyboard is a big plus. I really like being able to both use a keyboard and a scrolling mouse OR just the touchpad and touch screen. I already had a 15.6" Asus laptop, but that will now stay at home for certain designated tasks, along with my iMac. But this HP is now my favorite road warrior!

I guess you can't best Bose for sound quality, dollar for dollar. Yes, this was the highest priced unit at the store for this purpose at $199, but it's worth it. It turns my laptop into a real sound machine with a big bottom end. I'm a traveling musician and this is small enough to pack in my bag and makes working with audio files WAY easier and more satisfying while I'm on the road. Great for little hotel room rehearsals and such.

I use this CD player in an antique car to give me both the disc player and a digital tuner with multiple station pre-sets (as opposed to the analog dial and 3 push button pre-sets). Works well. No skipping. And the remote control makes it easy (and safer) to operate while driving. Not fancy but very functional and the price is small.
