We choose this microwave but slipped into a cut-out but the unit gets floggy when we cook certain items. Does this unit need to have a certain clearance around the micro to work properly? There is about an inch on the bottom

I just purchased this oven and I have not found the fan to be noisy at all. I had a Whirlpool Gold Series convection wall oven prior to this one and the fan was super noisy, but it was also 12 years old and used frequently, only for convection. This oven seems super quiet to me, compared to my previous one. I have not had any noise issues with the fans and to be honest, I have to set the timer to remind me that I am cooking, because I often tend to forget I even have the oven on because it is so quiet and insulated.
