EPIC is a computer animated adventure story in 3D aimed at a child audience. The animation and 3D effects are outstanding. The voice work of the cast is very good, but the story has nothing very original. It was amusing, but nothing I expect to watch again.
This multi-disc collection features the theatrical version of Francis Ford Coppola's acclaimed war film Apocalypse Now and two bonus movies. In addition to the theatrical version, this set also includes Apocalypse Now Redux, an alternate cut of the movie which features an additional 49 minutes of footage, and Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, the groundbreaking making-of documentary which chronicles the tumultuous production of the film.

I've always thought Apocalypse Now is a fantastic movie. I prefer the original theatrical version to the longer Redux version, but both look stunning on this Blu-Ray disc. Hearts of Darkness, on the second disc, a feature length documentary about the many, almost endless difficulties encountered by Coppola while filming the movie, is well worth watching. Highly recommended set.

I've seen all of the Planet of the Apes movies since the original with Charlton Heston. I think this is the best one so far. Exciting and believable story with astoundingly realistic ape characters. Highly recommended!

Fletch is a pretty funny mystery comedy with Chevy Chase. The role of a private detective suits him perfectly, giving him a chance to create multiple eccentric comic characters while trying to find out why a man hires Chase to kill him. Looking forward to watching it again soon.

Death Race has some amazing, exciting stunt work and special effects crashes. But right now, 2 weeks after watching it, I can't remember the story at all. I guess the story was not very good, or I'd remember some of it. I can still remember the basic story of the original Death Race 2000 about 40 years later. So, just watch it for the stunts.

Jurassic World 3D is the best of the Jurassic movies since the original back in 1993. The story line is not very different from the original (cloned monster escapes and looks for someone to eat). This time the park has been open for business for some time, and to attract jaded visitors to come back they are now designing new, bigger, meaner dinos. Great special effects, especially in the very well done 3D.

This umpteenth filming of The Great Gatsby is done in the same excessively energetic style as Baz Lurhman's Moulin Rouge. Bright, colorful, fast moving, excessively energetic, but perhaps just a bit too long. An excessive story about excess.
The 3D animated family comedy catapults moviegoers to planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy, by-the-rules brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA. When BASAs no-nonsense chief Lena (Jessica Alba) informs the brothers of an SOS from a notoriously dangerous planet, Scorch rejects Garys warnings and bounds off for yet another exciting mission. But when Scorch finds himself caught in a fiendish trap set by the evil Shanker (William Shatner) it's up to scrawny, risk-adverse Gary to do the real rescuing. As the interplanetary stakes rise to new heights, Gary is left to save his brother, his planet, his beloved wife Kira (Sarah Jessica Parker) and their adventure hungry son Kip.

Aimed mainly at children, this has an intriguing enough story line to make it still amusing for adults. It's about the rivalry between two brothers, dimwit super-jock athletic hero who is always rescuing someone in trouble, and brilliant, nerdy whiz kid always lost in his brother's shadow. Guess who saves the day (and his brother) in the end.

I expected something on the low lever of Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, but this was a much better movie with a more serious, less tongue in cheek tone. Very well done CGI, and some great 3D effects added to the fun.

Although not very original or well written, this is a fun, not serious, 3D adventure with some very effective 3D moments. I enjoyed it, but it may not be as much fun without the 3D.
