Lost every picture

I resetted my iPod touch 5 and I lost all my pictures and I was wondering if there is a way I can get them back. I tried 3rd party softwares (I think that's what it's called) but every time it's ready to install it says do you want to make the following changes to your computer. I always click no because I'm afraid it will do something to the computer and my dad has really important stuff on it since he owns his own business. Is there a simple way to get them back? I also tried iTunes<preferences<devices but I didn't get very far because I couldn't find where preferences is. Where is preferences? Sorry for so many questions!
Most likely, and unfortunately, the pictures are simply gone. If is NOT your device, DO NOT make update or change without the owners approval.

i pod alternative

Hello, I'm looking for a music playing device that is NOT an i-pod. I'm tired of I-tunes not working or erasing my i-pod all the time.

I have an extensive CD collection which I transfer onto my computer then to the music device and then I like to use a tuner to play it in my car. Any suggestions?
Sandisk offers many such devices. I have 2 of them... The Clip+, and a Sport Clip. Both units have the option of using a Micro SD card to expand the memory capacity of their devices. The Clip+ can handle up to an 8GB Micro SD card, and the Sport Clip will accept up to 32GB extra memory.
I use them when I go riding. I get hours of music without having to deal with lost radio signals.

I heard Apple products are reliable

I heard from one of my teachers that any thing that's related to Apple is safe. Can anyone tell me if the software iPhone-IPad-data-recovery safe. If you don't know what it is I think you would just type in iPhone-iPad-data-recovery . Also thank you guys so much for being so helpful!!
Apple is NOT 100% safe. Nothing is. Keep in mind that most viruses and attacks are aimed at Windows based devises, since it has the biggest share of users, but my daughter and her family use Apple devices exclusively, and every once in a while they get hit.

Kindle

Can I transfer music from my kids.del to this device?
Yes. Connect the Clip to the Dell via a USB cable, select the music that you want to transfer, Right Click, then select SEND TO. You can also get a MICRO SD card, up to 32GB, and SEND the music onto that, then insert it into the slot on the side. It will update the music on the SD Card every time the card is removed and replaced.

Is there still 'dead air' between tracks?

I have an older SanDisk sansa clip - between tracks, that were written to blend into one another, there is an annoying silent pause. Do the new clips still do this?
I have a Clip+ and a Sport, each about 1 year old, and I've listened to "live" music on both of them without any drop outs or silence between tracks. Truth be told, I prefer the Clip+ over the more expensive Sport.
