This is a very rugged piece and you don’t feel it’s going to fall out of your hand because of the rubbery like surface. Your iPad is snuggly held and protected. The only reason why I scored a 4 is because your iPad doesn’t always stay in place when you have it in the angled position. It relies on the rubber edge staying put on the felt like surface,. It generally stays put but now and then it slides flat
