I actually bought this to convert an HDMI output from a laptop to a DVI cable that leads to a ceiling mounted projector...kind of the opposite for how it's intended to be used. Fortunately, it works perfectly for what we needed.

Only @ Best BuyEasily adapt an HDMI output to a DVI input with this adapter, so you have the right connections for your home theater system.

Reasonably priced adapter with all metal construction feels solid. Gold plated contacts ensure good conductivity. The shrouds for the HDMI and DVI ends also appear to be gold plated. I wonder why it's priced higher than the equivalent DVI-to-HDMI adapter....

Will this give me audio and sound if connecting my older tv with new blu ray player?
I have an older tv with a dvi output and just received a new blu ray player with only an hdmi connection. Can I use this device to connect my tv and blu ray and will i get both video and audio? If not, what can I use?
Since DVI only supports video, no it will not transmit the audio signal. The back of the packaging even says it's not for use with audio signals. If your blu-ray player has an optical output and the TV has an optical input, you should be able to use that to get the audio signal to the TV. If not, then you ought to be able to use plain analog stereo cables (red & white for right & left).
