Insignia NS-R5111 AM/FM Arm Band Radio Review

Acoustic Simplicity. Sonic Perfection. Superior Design. Overachievement to the max. Economical Price. These are just some of the characteristics that make the Insignia NS-R5111 AM/FM Stereo Arm Band Radio a formidable contender in the portable audio universe. This unit’s performance and feature set is consistent and commensurate with some of the more expensive AM/FM portable radios on the market. The Insignia radio features a rugged body construction, excellent radio reception, quality headphones, and a convenient arm band for comfortable placement of this unit during the morning exercise routine. This portable presents all of the amenities and comforts that a radio or exercise enthusiast would want. My particular model sports an attractive and bright yellow appearance that always reminds me of a beautiful summer day. The Insignia radio offers ergonomically positioned controls, AM/FM reception, and a water-resistant design for private listening sessions while sitting poolside or relaxing at the beach. This unit’s hold feature is extremely useful as I know that the great song I’m listening to won’t be disturbed by an accidental button press or if this radio suffers a slight fall to the ground. The LCD display gives me much needed time, station, and preset number information instantly, so that I can make an accurate station selection as circumstances require. The included stereo headphones fit snugly on my ears and offer a fatigue-free listening experience. The Insignia NS-R5111 arm band radio’s preset tuning feature is by far this portable’s best attribute. It’s very convenient to skip from station to station at the press of a button to find the best programming on at the current moment. This portable radio does a fine job for news, sports, talk, and weather broadcasts on the AM band. I don’t notice too much noise or the need to reorient the radio to get high quality reception for my favorite AM stations. Late night AM DX reception is possible with this portable as long as suitable atmospheric conditions are present. FM stereo reception is clear and consistently very good. The music comes in with great fidelity and with solid bass performance. The Insignia arm band radio features a headphone cord FM antenna that pulls in all the FM stations that I need or care for. FM stereo reception is always dependable, with accurate results both at home and outdoors. This unit demonstrates better than average sensitivity and selectivity broadcast AM/FM reception performance for this product category. The Insignia portable radio operates on two AAA batteries. I can’t recommend the batteries that are included with this unit. In my view, Duracell Ultra or Energizer Max alkaline batteries extract the most battery life and audio performance from this handsomely designed Insignia portable radio. The Insignia NS-R5111 AM/FM radio includes the following step-up portable features: digital AM/FM tuner, AM frequency range: 530-1710 kHz, FM frequency range: 87.5-107.9 MHz, FM stereo/mono reception, 20 AM/FM stations presets, 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo headphones, headphone cord FM antenna, built-in AM ferrite bar antenna, LCD display, digital clock, hold feature, battery life indicator, water-resistant, wearable oval design, power, preset, stereo/time set, memory, band selection, volume up, volume down, preset tuning/manual seek tuning controls, volume level indicator, belt clip, arm band, 2 AAA battery operation, battery compartment, and operating instructions. The Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio is the best travel companion that I can think of. Once again, Sony has demonstrated its technical prowess, dominance, and mastery of the portable audio product category. This Sony portable radio features excellent sensitivity and selectivity with respect to its broadcast FM/WB/AM reception capabilities. I feel lucky and fortunate to own it. This Sony Walkman radio is a small and lightweight unit that fits with ease in the palm of your hand, on your belt with supplied clip, or your shirt pocket. It is just comforting to notice the solid feel and sturdy build quality of this resilient Sony Walkman portable radio. This Sony Walkman is a go anywhere radio that performs well under adverse conditions including a very hot and humid summer day or a minor rainy weather event. When I am at the beach, or walking in my local park, or taking a stroll on the boardwalk, I can pick up my local weather band station with a slight tap of a direct preset button to get an instant forecast the moment I see some clouds begin to populate the horizon and accompanying skyline. Weather band reception enables me to plan the immediate future of my outing accurately and immediately with the latest meteorological forecast at any time. The supplied headphones fit nicely over the ears for fatigue-free listening for hours on end. The supplied open air headphones incorporate the system’s FM and Weather Band antenna. The FM stereo reception of my favorite music stations sound marvelous with near concert quality audio reproduction. Radio reception, in my experience, with this portable offers no static and drift-free reception performance. I don’t have to worry about an accidental station change or button press wherever I use my Sony Walkman, when I enable the unit’s hold feature. AM band listening is a pleasure. I can never get enough sports information. Talk radio programs and news broadcasts come in with great clarity and are easy to locate with the station preset feature. The battery life is seemingly endless. This amazing battery life longevity is wonderful because the radio’s operating costs are almost non-existent. I recommend a Duracell Ultra or Energizer Max AAA alkaline battery for maximum audio performance and battery life of this Sony radio. This Sony SRF-M37W Walkman has every feature that any radio or outdoor enthusiast could ask for. Those high quality features include: FM, AM, Channel 1-7 Weather Band reception, headphone cord FM/WB antenna, built-in AM antenna, direct weather button, digital tuner, FM local/distance switch, 20 station presets, LCD display, digital clock function, hold, band, power, time set/tuning seek buttons, 5 direct key preset memory buttons, battery life indicator, 3.5 mm headphone output jack, volume control, belt clip, operating instructions, and the portable radio also includes stereo headphones. With its accurate reception, powerful stereo sound, simple operation, weather band reception, and convenient multiple preset station settings, this Sony SRF-M37W Walkman is an outstanding performer for your own personal mobile audio requirements. It is my opinion, that this Sony Walkman does not demonstrate any flaws in ergonomic design, broadcast reception, or sound reproduction. Problematic installation of the software. I still only use it as a printer. The wireless works well.
I have spent hours with support to no avail, trying to install the software. If I can't, I might have to return the printer, even though it is supposed to do everything I need... but for that, the software needs to install...
I was really looking forward to receiving faxes to the computer, and to email the outgoing faxes directly to my inbox...
That's why I'm still trying. It is supposed to do very cool stuff.
But I still don't know if it will.
I purchased it on the 9th. Received it on the 16th. Today is the 23rd, still no go... and a lot of wasted time in between, trying to make it work!
I have spent hours with support to no avail, trying to install the software. If I can't, I might have to return the printer, even though it is supposed to do everything I need... but for that, the software needs to install...
