205 great value 4k DVR for hi res music playback

Sad to see Oppo stop production on this.
Bought one of the last 205s available from BB, and on the list with Oppo to buy a 2nd unit if they do another production run.
This review is focused on it's audio capabilities as I don't have a 4k tv yet to try spinning disc.

I have extensively listened to my 6TB hi rez music collection thru both my home theatre speakers as well as my Audeze LCD 3 headphones, using a 6tb Seagate drive in to the Oppo's USB input.
For the price, I highly recommend it. The new DAC chips sound better than my Oppo 105, and the headphone amp is quite good.
Is it better than a $20k Esoteric DAC ?
No - sorry to anti audio philes who don't believe in ultra high end gear. This doesnt compare to my Esoteric K-01X

It is however probably better than the majority of DACs in sub $5k region and makes an decent audio server if you don't want to mess with hooking your computer in to your home system.
If you listen to Music, get the 205 vs the 203. I noticed a pretty significant audio quality difference on my hi rez music thru my 105 vs my 103, and the 205 was even better than the 105. The extra $ Oppo puts in to the 205 power supply and isolation makes a difference in the sound quality.
Note that the 2 series no longer has streaming app capabilities. It also has no HDMI input for the Roku stick i used in my 105 to get prime, so now i have to use my Roku in to my AVR.
This is not the big a deal, as most new TVs have all these built in anyway.
