Torn on the new direction

To start, this game was a blast to explore. Being able to go pretty much anywhere you can see is a great feature to any game. The collectibles were great fun to find, and I really liked the shrine puzzles. In some ways the game felt more like a different series with a Zelda skin put over it though. I missed the old formula and sense of progression from the other games - gradually receiving items to help you solve specific and more complex puzzles. The difficulty was a bit strange as well. I may have had a knack for picking all the wrong places to head (which would be a bit strange in such an open world game), but I found myself constantly one shot by enemies if I didn't perfectly execute dodges and parries. It was a fun game, but a few flaws kept it from being the amazing experience to me that others seemed to find it.

Regret my $11 purchase

I should have known from the reviews and the quick sale drop to $14 ($11 after GCU discount) that this would not be a great experience, but I wanted to try it out for nostalgia purposes. It's not good. Honestly. The voice acting (aka awful noises) can't be turned off and is annoying as all get out, and in places is can't be skipped. The humor and writing are juvenile - not even in a clever or entertaining way. The level design is meh. The worst part though, is the way your character controls. Platformers need tight controlling characters so you can perform things with precision, but it just felt sloppy in this game. Horribly sloppy. Character not even running in a straight line when you hold it level sloppy. Really just not a good game.

While not the most compelling or addicting game, it is a rather fun time sink when you have a few minutes to spare. The z-targeting combat is actually rather fun (dodge rolls!), and the game is cute. It's a bit task heavy at the beginning, but you get a resident to help with that a bit later on. Not a bad purchase overall.

Significantly better than the Razor Naga I was using. Has much better tracking with and without a mousepad. The buttons feel better mechanically. They have a very rigid press and better tactile feedback. The move-able numpad is amazing for people of hands of any size, making it easier for people who couldn't effectively use the razor's locked pad. The button texturing makes it easy to know what button you are on just by feeling it. This is the best mouse I have ever used, bar none.
