This film shows that there are many layers to that Hell. Even though it only just skims the top, it provokes opposite feelings of admiration and then hatred; back and forth; and back again. Feelings of disdain and benevolence rocking your core as you witness casualties and triumphs. Wow what a ride. Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, this masterpiece is taking a seat next to you in my emotional WWII film library. Well done, well written, well directed, and we'll played.
A drifter named Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) brings trouble to small-town Minnesota and influences insurance salesman Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman) into murder. Meanwhile, a pair of local police officers are trying to piece together a series of murders which they believe is connected to Malvo and Nygaard.

Straight from the pages of Frank Miller's cutting edge series “Sin City”, co-directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez reunite to bring the visually stunning stories back to the screen. Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) struggles with his inner demons and tries to maintain control until his former lover, the goddess Ava Lord (Eva Green), returns wanting his help to escape her abusive husband. Though once he learns her true intentions are far more sinister than they appear, he recruits the help of Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Gail (Rosario Dawson). While a cocky young gambler (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) takes his chances winning against the most powerful man in Sin City, Senator Roark (Powers Boothe). But this is Senator Roark’s least of problems because Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba) has been driven insane by John Hartigan's (Bruce Willis) selfless suicide and is no longer a damsel in distress and is out for blood, compelled to avenge Hartigan by hunting down Senator Roark.

Robin Hood scuffles onto Blu-ray with a good, though at times problematic, AVC encoded transfer in 1080p and a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. When this transfer works well, it works very well indeed. Overall, despite this film's inherent bleakness and darkness, this is a respectably solid looking effort with only a few minor anomalies keeping it from a better score.

Troy is of reference quality on Blu-ray. Each color is reproduced with stunning clarity and lifelike accuracy. The greens of the foliage seen throughout the picture from time to time are also faithfully reproduced. Detail is very high. Characters look strikingly real and their clothing and armor look great.Nearly as good as the video quality is the PCM uncompressed 5.1 soundtrack that accompanies the film. Finally breaking away from their norm of releasing Blu-ray discs with only a lossy Dolby Digital track, the inclusion of the PCM track hopefully represents a new direction with the Warner Bros.
