After the lackluster (and buggy) Assassin's Creed Unity released last year, it's relieving to be able to tell you that this latest installment in the franchise is a dream come true. This is the most fun I've had playing an Assassin's Creed game since II. The new rope shooter makes the chore of climbing buildings a breeze and now I can't imagine going through future installments without it. Evie is a delightful new protagonist and a refreshing change of pace from the series' typical male-lead outings. As for the story that takes place outside of the Animus, let's just say there's a lot left to be desired. It's essentially made up of a few quick cutscenes sprinkled throughout the main story that ultimately left me wondering why they even bothered including them in the first place.
In the end, if you're tired of the Assassin's Creed formula, then Syndicate may not be the game for you. But, if you're completely new to the series or have sat out on the past couple of outings and are itching to jump back in, then I can't recommend Assassin's Creed Syndicate enough!
