Gory jungle fun

I've been a fan of Eli Roth since the beginning. He's a fellow movie nerd that managed to get pictures made, and has more recently been helping other folks get pictures made.
It had been many years since Roth had done a film of his own, and with both GREEN INFERNO & KNOCK KNOCK being remake/homages, I had mild trepidations. INFERNO, structurally, is very much like its blueprint, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, with one major acception (and my only real disappointment): humor. There are broad strokes of silly humor that feel distracting & unnecessary. Beyond that, I felt like the score was mismatched, but not wrong or inappropriate, so I'll chalk that up the personal taste.
I'm glad to see the man getting into the director's chair again, and I hope more uniquely original material will follow!

Don Knotts is underrated. This showcase of his stereotypical doofus combines pre-Scooby Doo "creepy" fun with an Addams/Munsters atmosphere. Great for all ages, this piece of work also benefits from a beautiful transfer, looking perhaps better than it ever has.

Continuing the X saga in good hands!

Bryan Singer brought the X-Men to the big screen over 15yrs ago in a perfect vision. Although not all episodes in the series have been as stellar, it has nevertheless remained strong, even through the recasting of younger versions of the characters. APOCALYPSE is no different, combining the strength of the "junior" cast with a lovely "revolutionary" spin on the mutants & how they regard each other. And, to boot, bringing the fantastic Oscar Isaac onboard as the arch villain/deity Apocalypse.
My only issue with this flick is that it jams an awful lot of story into its running time; I would've been happier with another half hour in this world.

Christopher Nolan re-created & resurrected the dark essence of Batman with his DARK KNIGHT trilogy. The unmentionable 2 films following Tim Burton's visionary rendition of the classic vigilante are successfully eliminated by these three treatises on human darkness & redemption. This collection, besides providing some tasty little collector's perks condenses the 3 films into one single-sized box; a true bonus for collector's constantly in need of shelf space!

Though coming toward the end of the decade, MAJOR LEAGUE truly embodies the 80s comedy. Although this is far from an absolute favorite (not a sports fan!), it does deliver great, memorable characters (early Wesley Snipes as Willy Mayes Hayes) & the trial/redemption plot structure so important at that time. So while I didn't laugh myself to tears, I enjoyed every minute of this flick.

I grew up with this, the 2nd Star Trek series. Starting in the late 80s and crossing over into the final decade of the 20th century, Next Gen proved consistently top notch all around. The hi-def remasters look cleaner than the show could EVER have looked, given the TV & broadcast technology at the time. Relive these classic adventures upgraded for tomorrow!

Though I much prefer MENACE II SOCIETY when it comes to these modern G flicks, BOYZ is a must-have. Especially at $5.99! While I find MENACE much grittier, the heavy-handed John Singleton "message" element combined with the fashion & music make BOYZ a fantastic time capsule film.
