Bad

I'm very disappointed with this item. The wi-fi signal is significantly weaker than what I had with previous rental equipment. Amazon Firestick doesn't work with this wi-fi on 5ghz--there is constant buffering. Hard wired Roku box can't play Netflix without intermittent buffering. I don't know if I got a lemon or if this is a genuinely bad product but I am very unhappy with it. I wish I had returned it to Best But within the 15-day window but I'm a few days past that now. My advice if you have the money is to buy a separate modem and router--this combo doesn't work well, at least with my Xfinity service.

Disappointing

I purchased this because my Radio Shack antenna needed to be adjusted for various channels which isn't practical if I'm recording off the air broadcasts with my Tivo box. This antenna is supposed to be omnidirectional but I find that the reception is spotty--sometimes a channel will come in fine and other times there will be static. For some channels the antenna also needs to be moved, although not quite to the same as the Radio Shack antenna. On the other hand, with the RS antenna when it was adjusted to receive a channel it kept receiving it. With this antenna the picture can look great and then all of a sudden there's a ton of static on the channel. I'm probably going to return this for a refund and try a different brand.
What's great about it: Attractive design
What's not so great: Reception spotty at best

Low quality product

I purchased this DVD recorder a couple days ago to replace a 6 year old Panasonic that finally died. The recording quality of the Toshiba is noticeably poor compared with the older Panasonic. Recordings made with this Toshiba frankly look like VHS quality to me--the picture is muddy and dull compared with the much crisper picture I got on the older recorder. The lack of a variable recording speed is also a huge minus. For example, if you are recording a 2 hour and 5 minute movie on this recorder it actually records it at the 4 hour speed, which is very poor. I'm probably going to return this and get a higher end model by a different company.
What's great about it: Low price. Easy to use.
What's not so great: Poor quality recording. No variable recording speed.

Does it have a User Access Control (MAC Address Filtering)

I want to lock down all my devices by MAC address. Does it have this feature?
I don't think so but that type of security opens up a major hole in your network. MAC addresses are broadcast publicly. It's not difficult for someone with a little technical knowledge to pull up nearby MAC addresses and then spoof an address, which would give them entry into your network without needing a password.

Does this have a wireless reset button for when it gets slow so you don't have to unplug the whole unit?

There are buttons for WPS connection and to turn the wi-fi radios on and off on the front and a power button on the back. I think you would need to power cycle the whole unit if it got slow or stopped working. The wi-fi radio button probably wouldn't do what you want.

Does it stop buffering when streaming or watching video`s and if it doesn`t which one do you recommend.

I get so much buffering with this I can no longer use my Amazon Firestick--and that's on the faster 5mgh wi-fi. I also have a Roku box hardwired and get buffering when watching Netflix or Vudu. This is definitely not what you want if you are streaming video. I would recommend a separate modem and router rather than this thing.
