Great movie, great transfer to Blu Ray

While not perfect from beginning to end, this movie is great fun, has magnificent acting and beautiful cinematography. It was best in the theater, but the Blu Ray is the next best thing.

One of my favorite SF films, great transfer

This is one of my favorite science fiction films, full of action, great fun, and visually just fantastic.

I bought the DVD when I upgraded my TV and got a Blu Ray player to see if I could see a difference from standard DVD... and yes, this Blu Ray looks fantastic on a quality screen.

Good inexpensive player to match a Samsung TV

This is a good inexpensive player to match my Samsung TV. Playback of standard and Blu Ray dvd's is fine (though it suffers from image breakup when slowing back to play speed from fast forward).

I didn't realize before buying a Samsung TV and player that their remotes are poorly done. The TV remote can control some of the basic player functions, but both of the remotes have lousy button layout, and the player's remote doesn't have a backlight. Only one button on the player remote has a locator bump, which is the play button, and the rest of the buttons are tiny, similarly sized, and don't seem to follow much of a logical layout.

One other minor annoyance: if I turn on the player first, it sets the TV to its internal speakers, rather than the attached non-Samsung sound bar.

Roku for my mom

My mom needed an upgrade from an old Roku unit she was using with a CRT television. Out with the old, in with the new. Rook is her favorite streaming, and unfortunately it doesn't come integrated with Sony TV's. Great picture, familiar remote, and she uses and likes the headphones plug on the remote.
