I remember when these games originally come out, and I never got them. I thought they seemed very ridiculous. "Final Fantasy and Disney characters???"
It wasn't until I was bombarded with recommendations for this by a couple of friends last year, that I finally caved and gave it a go.
Surprisingly enough, these games aren't very 'goofy' at all. Everything is presented in a well rounded, easy to understand way sure, but it has a lot of depth that I was not expecting.
Great gameplay, the story is actually really good, and the best part is that the Disney characters like Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, are all very in character and not all super emo or serious like I was afraid they'd be.

As a long time fan of the original game, I am happy to say that this remake or remaster [more like the latter] is just as fantastic. The only thing I think I disliked was the redesign for the characters, but thankfully there is dlc you can get that changes it back to the original artwork.
Gorgeous story, beautiful musical pieces, the characters have a surprising amount of depth and humanity to them [esp for a jrpg], I highly recommend this.

I actually remember when this game was in early development. Way back when. I'm sure that the dev doesn't remember me, why should he? But it sure does feel nice to tell my sister, 'hey, I remember talking to that guy about making a fan game YEARS ago!'
I had no idea that he would go on to make such an amazing game. It's crazy how addictive it is.
The music is really sweet and chirpy, with just a touch of... an almost mystic or fairy tale quality to it.
The characters are all really well fleshed out. The game is really responsive. Farming is a breeze, but still feels challenging enough.
Marriage is very rewarding, you get two kids out of it too! And I love the fact that my spouse kisses me each morning. It's so darn sweet!
[Take notes, Story of Season devs, My farmer needs her hugs and kisses from her hubby. It makes the marriage feel really solid and I feel proud of my little farmer sprite for being such a good wife.]

Many people suggest other films when suggesting a person check out Hayao Miyazaki's filmbio. Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro being the most common. And while those two films are FABULOUS. I would instead suggest to watch the maiden voyage film for Studio Ghibli, Nausicaa.
It is so brimming with the early imagination of Mr. Miyazaki, that with each and every scene you can practically FEEL the heart and passion he and his team put into this movie. The musical score is gorgeous, Princess Nausicaa is willfully and emotionally portrayed in both the English dub and Japanese dub. Which ever one that you prefer, you will still get an excellent story and experience.
I highly recommended this movie, to all ages. It is a masterpiece.

Relax with Wii U's version of the Paper Mario: Color Splash game. Everyone's favorite Italian plumber is sent to Prism Island, which has been drained of its color. Mario brings justice to Prism Island in Paper Mario: Color Splash, and he uses the Paint Hammer to restore life as well as color.

I have been a huge fan of the Paper Mario series since I was a preteen. Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door [gamecube] is probably one of my favorite games ever created. This game is not even close to that.
The gameplay mechanics are very unrewarding. And while Color Splash is vastly better than the horrid Sticker Star, bringing back the rpg fighting style but with the horrible sticker quality and not even giving us experience points... That was a very BAD move. I also find it kind of depressing that Nintendo has seen it fit to strip away all of the unique characters known to the paper universe and stick to bland white bread toads as all of the npcs you can interact with [BRING BACK KOOPAS, GOOMBAS, BOOS, PINATAS... FEMALE Toads! B R I NG 'EM BACK, NINTENDO.]
This is not to say that there aren't SOME positives. This game has plenty of charming and hilarious moments throughout it's [very simple] storyline, which I was relieved to see [sticker star had NONE of this]. And your paint bucket sidekick is a pretty cute little fella, I did enjoy coloring the paper world with him by my side.
Bottom line? I saw shadows of what made this series so great originally, which while a little depressing, also gave me hope that Nintendo will take this series back in the right direction. I would recommend getting this game if you're a mega fan of Paper Mario like I am, but only during a very good sale.
