Creating a remake of one of the best genre films of all time was a no-win situation from the start. Fortunately the film is not a total loss, trying to move into entirely new directions while retaining some of the key elements of the original. Shame about the suit though, which never comes anywhere near Rob Bottin's work of art. Not a terrific remake, but not a waste of time either.

American Horror story has always had its share of shocking moments, but episode for episode, 'Freakshow' had shocks to spare. Set in an aging freak show, the season could be brutal to the point of being repulsive, but you could never not look. 'Freakshow' set an awfully high bar to meet in future seasons.

While understandably known for his supernatural fare, director John Carpenter stepped WAY out of his comfort zone with Big Trouble in Little China, a fantasy action-adventure that straddles several different genres while staying loyal to all of them. And Kurt Russell reminds us why he was one of the big screen's best leading men of the '80s and '90s.
In Season 3 of this supernatural drama, Nick (David Giuntoli) deals with some surprising aftereffects of his zombie attack-and the outcome is more positive than he could have anticipated. Meanwhile, he works to rebuild his relationship with Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch), whose newfound knowledge of Nick's world leads to her being increasingly involved in his Grimm work. Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) asks Rosalee (Bree Turner) to marry him, but their impending nuptials raise concerns among their families about the appropriateness of a mixed-Wesen wedding, especially one that has a Grimm as best man. Meanwhile, Adalind (Claire Coffee) continues her fight to regain her powers, but with a baby on the way and an all-out war brewing between her and the royal family, she may have gotten in over her head.

It's always tough to expand a show's mythology in season three; in fact most network series rarely last into a third season. The writers and producers continue to bring in new elements to refresh the show's mythology and throw in a few surprises along the way.

Let's face it, anybody can put together an excellent first season, but the challenge is coming back even bigger and better for season two. Fortunately, Penny Dreadful does exactly that. Acting, story and design are all top-notch, as the show builds on its first season success.

It's been years since the last Mad Max film reached the silver screen, but 'Fury Road' was well worth the wait. The cinematography, art direction, stunts, visual FX and makeup are all top notch- don't be surprised if you see a few Oscars handed out for this one.

if you enjoyed The Secret of Kells, you will not only know what to expect with this film, but you probably enjoy this one as well. Song of the Sea, from the same director and many of the same team, is a beautiful film, with some genuinely stunning moments. Children and adults should enjoy it.
Once upon a time, Keith Michaels (Hugh Grant - About a Boy, Love Actually) was an award-winning Hollywood screenwriter, but divorce and a string of unsuccessful films have left him with nothing but bad debts and blank pages. So when his agent arranges a job as guest screenwriting professor at a remote university in upstate New York, a desperate Keith can't say no. Initially hoping to give minimal effort to actual teaching so he can focus on his next script, Keith unexpectedly finds himself becoming invested in his students lives, including Holly (Marisa Tomei, The Wrestler) a single mom looking to start her own new chapter. The Rewrite features an all-star cast, including J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Allison Janney ('Mom') Chris Elliott (Groundhog Day) and Bella Heathcote (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).

Hugh Grant has the amazing ability to take even a tired and cliched script and bring something to it, such as Music and Lyrics. In this one, Grant brings his usual persona to the role, although the film itself is hardly a classic. Worth watching, but you probably won't watch it twice.

Unlike previous seasons that slowly build up to the end, this one gives us the death of Joffrey right at the beginning and it doesn't slow down after that. Not a single miss-able episode in the bunch.

At some point, somebody will tell Christopher Nolan he has to stop making over-long, wildly over-indulgent films and maybe this is that time. The first half of the film isn't at all bad, but at some point Nolan decides he's going to do his own 2001 and the last 45 minutes descend into meaningless pseudo-science that doesn't at all make sense. He should have quit while he was ahead.
