Colors work, app is clunky

The light string itself works very well. When I saw it 1/2 off for $25 I took a chance and bought one. I use it now as an accent light strip on top of the entertainment center and behind the TV and slowly rotate the colors. Works well as a substitute for a $89 hue light strip. I might use it outside at Xmas.
The problem is it does not work with Alexa and has to be app controlled. The wake and sleep timers will not hold the settings on the Playbulb x app. Every couple of days they go back to un-enabled and lose the timer settings.
