Worthy of a Star Wars Soundtrack

One of the defining aspects of a motion picture is often its musical score, and this holds very true to the Star Wars films. This is the first Star Wars soundtrack not to be helmed by John Williams (with the exception of Joel McNeely's excellent "Shadows of the Empire"), however Michael Giacchino seems to have accepted the challenge of following in his footsteps and has passed the test. Of course there are sprinklings of Williams' music mixed within, but those moments generally play on the nostalgic factors within the film. As with McNeely, it's more supporting evidence that great Star Wars music will still go on even after Williams retires.

Joss Whedon attempted to follow up his successful series Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the science fiction-themed Firefly. Although the series failed to garner a mass audience, it did have a loyal following. Those fans will be pleased by this box set that contains every episode of the series that aired, as well as three never-before-seen episodes. All 15 episodes are presented in anamorphic widescreen. English, French, and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Commentaries are available on four of the episodes. Production featurettes, a blooper reel, and a tour of the set with Whedon round out this solid package that should be of interest to genre enthusiasts as well as Whedon's fans.

After missing out on the show when it originally aired, I finally dove into this show which has such a strong fan base for only having one season and a follow-up movie. I was very entertained! I then picked up Serenity to complete the story. If only there was more to watch....

After finally cutting the cord on DirecTV and cable, I was in need for another Roku. The portability and usability is definitely a plus, but the Roku channels give me everything I need that I was previously paying way too much for. My old Roku has issues from time to time in needing to reboot, but this one has been pretty solid. I think I've only had to reboot it once after losing power during a storm.
