Say goodbye to Cable for local TV

I was frustrated that when the local cable providers went digital and I had to get a descrambler box that I did not receive the digital VHF stations, only the UHF channels. I found out from a tech that the cable company was trying to "push" the wideband digital through an analog line in my area. The solution was this outside antenna. I received the UHF digital (not scrambled) in a crisp and clean format. The VHF stations are over 30 miles away with mountains in the way, so I will have to get a more powerful directional antenna for them.
In the end I dropped the cable cost of $35 a month for my local channels. The antenna has paid for itself already.

Star Wars #7 is many things to many people. In 1976 I stood in hour long lines to watch the first one. It was something that was new, fresh, fun, and in an age of R rated movies - something the whole family could experience together.
This reboot by JJ Abrams heralds back to those times with a good story, good action, and a script that far exceeds those of #s 1-3.
I was left wanting more of the same and am looking forward to the next installments. Thanks to Mr Abrams, Star Wars has matured into something more than the Saturday afternoon serial that Lukas had imagined.

Just think - 13 Districts. 13 American colonies. A revolution to overthrow the ruling power. Sound familiar? There was sacrifice for selfish self preservation in "the Games", but now the sacrifices are for loved ones and friends and their ultimate freedom to live a life of peace and prosperity without fear.
All of the other episodes have lead up to this point. Are we pawns on someone's chess board? Many chessboards? Or something more?

Good Dinosaur is Good Pixar

The Good Dinosaur comes off at first as a Disney Pixar version of the Croods, from the viewpoint of the Dinosaur. Then toss in a bit of boy looses dad scene from Lion King. It's not Pixar's best (i.e. Inside Out), but the kids enjoyed it - although some parts were very intense for wee ones. That said - the background CGI scenery and the river water is the best in the industry - it looked "real" ! But add in "comic" looking dinosaurs and cave kid and it spoiled the A+ backgrounds.
