These are running at $15 close-out now. Grab them fast. This is the mid-market model, but it does everything most people need it to do. Netgears are a bit fussier than some others (read disable/enable alot), but they work and have good range/fidelity.

Best buy has a good price on this to begin with, but even better if you catch it on sale. Firstly, there is no reason to avoid this based on the AMD cpu, as it runs just as well as the Intels at almost everything. That said, if you want to tinker with O/Cing this, the Intel is much easier to work with...especially if you consider that Toshiba has made this the idiot model with almost no BIOS customization. Also, being the idiot model, the HDD and RAM are not easily accessible. To alter these, you must take apart the entire laptop and void your warranty. That said, after you open this up, it is just as customizable as the machines that are at the ridiculous prices. The GPU is okay. The RAM as shipped is okay, but will get a little slow if you are running high-security anti-virus with several apps. The screen resolution is good, but could be better. The touchscreen functionality is brilliantly handy and works very well. It also seamlessly transitions between the two. The battery also can't be removed without dismantling (warranty void), so bear that in mind. They tell you it will survive thousands and thousands of recharges, but then they claim it runs almost 6 hours on the battery alone also and that is BS. It runs 2 to 3 max. In summation, this is a real little value bundle at under $300. With a little bit of work it easily surpasses many other pricier alternatives. For those wanting a portable email/internet/entertainment (besides heavy gaming) tool, this is more than capable enough right out of the box.

They have altered the way they make the connectors for these and now they don't want to grab and snap in like the old ones. It make installing them a bit more pressure intensive, but that isn't the store's fault. Anyway, they do go in and work; I just don't like having to practically smash the cartridge tray to get one of these replaced. Price is competitive.

will this work with an older windows 98 secong gen computer
I have a hunter alignment rack and laser aligner which uses a sony computer tower and we need to put a wireless adapter on to be able to download new drivers and use a newer printer. Or just send to other printer at another station. will one of your adapters work. this one states that its backwards compatible with 802 etc.
My guess (that is what it is, since I have not actually tried this combo) is NO. Its not a matter of connection or LAN protocol, but a matter of drivers. I seriously doubt that a Win 98 driver is either preloaded on this adapter or available for download from Linksys.

Will this product receive wireless data plan from AT&T or from providers outside of the U.S.?
No, the wireless protocols are different.
