Three Days Grace has their two big hits "Just Like You" & "I Hate Everything About You". Grace's music has those in-your-face lyrics & sound that alternative rock is known for. The rest of album is OK. I got a good deal on it for only $6.99.

One of the best movies of 2014.

The Raid 2 is even better than the original. It features some of the most amazing, creative, & intense fight scenes I've ever seen. The showstopper being the kitchen one-on-one battle. There are some new interesting characters with the additions of Baseball Bat Boy & Hammer Girl. I loved the cameo of Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog in the original) playing a different character.
As much as I liked the first Raid, there wasn't much of a story. The Raid 2 has a solid story of Rama going undercover in the mob to expose police corruption. He also has to deal with a potential war between two mob families. The story and the action compliment each other to make a great overall movie.
The extras show how they set up the action scenes & the locations. My favorite being the Q&A with the director & the cast. I really appreciate how they made this on such a small budget. The Raid 2 is easily one of the best movies I've seen this year.

Incredible Special Effects Thriller

Gravity features some of the most incredible visuals I've ever seen. The opening shot & the space debris chain reaction scenes are the highlights. Even without the 3D, the Blu Ray does them justice. The score & sound effects are also top notch & gives off the quiet of space & the intensity of the situation. The disc is a great way to show off your TV & sound system.
Bullock really carries the movie as the inexperienced engineer while Clooney is solid as the veteran spacewalker. Bullock shows the pain & fear her Ryan Stone has to go through. The story is simple so don't expect a ton of twists or complex character arcs. It's all about the will to survive and to find a way back home.
There are a lot of special features that show how much work Director Alfonso Cuaron and his crew did into getting the Zero G effects. It was interesting to find out what was real & what was CGI/BlueScreen. There was also a feature devoted to the real problem of space debris collisions. I highly recommend this.

Smart Sci-Fi Time Travel Action Movie

Looper is a smart and violent sci-fi flick where in the future mobsters use a time travel device to dispose of enemies and their own hitmen. It's more than just Willis & Levitt trying to kill each other. The story takes a big turn when we arrive at Emily Blunt's farm.
It has a more grounded version of what the future would like & everybody in the cast is just great. There is a lot of thought put into the various timelines & how a young person can affect the older version of himself.
The special features go into the ideas behind Looper, all the makeup effects Levitt had to go through, what if time travel was real, the music score, & a commentary with the cast and crew.
Looper has a lot of replay value & I look forward to what director Rian Johnson does next.

Pop music with substance.

Halcyon has several hit songs like "Nights", "Burn", "I Need Your Love", & "Anything Can Happen". Goulding's unique voice gives these songs a lot of emotion & substance. The music is a good mixture of pop, techno, & dance music. The lyrics are solid & don't have to resort to the phony shock value of a Lady Gaga or Katy Perry.
The only problem I had was a part of the case that holds the CD was broken so the CD becomes loose sometimes.

Another Scorsese Classic!

The Wolf is the hilarious & true story about Jordan Belfort who ruled Wall Street through his greed & determination. Dicaprio is incredible as Belfort and the rest of the cast delivers in their roles (Even Jonah Hill). There are so many memorable scenes, the one where Belfort takes some outdated drugs is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The Wolf shows the ugly side of the excess & greed of stockbrokers. This is a Scorsese film so be prepared for a ton of profanity.
The Wolf Pack extra feature shows Scorsese & the cast talking about their characters. It was interesting, I just wished there were more features about the real Jordan Belfort or a commentary.

Smart Superhero Action Show

Arrow is about billionaire Oliver Queen (Amell) becoming a Batman-like vigilante known as "The Hood" to save his corrupt city after being stranded on an island for five years.
Amell is perfect for the role as he has the charisma & athleticism to be the playboy womanizing Queen & then The Hood. The rest of the cast, except for Katie Cassidy, is solid with David Ramsey as Queen's bodyguard Diggle & Susanna Thompson as Oliver's mom who has some dark secrets. For a CW show, the fight scenes & action are well choreographed & intense. There are also several cameos of other DC Comics' heroes & villains throughout the season. The Undertaking plot was always interesting & had a surprising payoff in the finale.
The DVD extras have a couple behind the scenes features that are decent. I'm just disappointed there wasn't one commentary on any of the 23 episodes.
This is one of my favorite superhero/vigilante TV shows. I already like it more than Smallville.

Meteora represented Linkin Park at their best. "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Numb", and my favorite LP song "Breaking The Habit" made me feel like it was the early 2000's again. There are a couple duds like "Session" & "Hit The Floor" where it's either a 3 minute sample beat or LP screaming at the top of their lungs for no reason.
The art cover doubles as a mini booklet that describes how each song was created. It was interesting to learn how some songs only took a few hours to produce while others (like Breaking The Habit) took years to get the right music for the lyrics. As a big alternative rock fan, this CD was a lot of fun.

Great movie, lackluster special features.

Inception is my second favorite Christopher Nolan movie (The Dark Knight being #1). The plot is very innovative with how criminals steal or plant information by entering their targets' dreams. Dicaprio, Hardy, Page, Gordon-Levitt and the rest of the cast all deliver excellent performances. The highlight is the dream sequence that features Levitt fighting several henchmen in zero gravity.
I bought the one disc Steelbook version & the movie looks and sounds great. The Extraction Mode shows some behind the scenes info that can be played during the movie or straight from the menu. The other features can only be accessed through BD Live. What happened to the good old days of getting all the features without having to be hooked to the internet? It's a frustrating problem. Most one disc editions have more features & are easier to access.
I still love the movie, but I wanted more special features!
