In the 1930s, a corner of Europe teeters on the brink of war. As the heroic commander Welkin, you are caught in the crossfire between neighboring enemy nations. As tensions escalate, you must lead a small platoon against the warring factions. But as the chaos of battle erupts across your small nation, a new and more dire threat emerges. The Valkyria, an ancient race with terrifying destructive powers, have arisen from the depths of time and leapt straight into the thick of the battle. Now your troops must gather their resources and courage to defeat these deadly foes and ensure your nation's continued freedom.Valkyria Chronicles combines an epic storyline and astonishing technology to deliver a uniquely compelling and immersive gaming experience. The groundbreaking CANVAS graphics engine, designed exclusively for PlayStation 3, animates the story with the breathtaking fluidity of a watercolor painting in motion, and the new BLiTZ battle system combines the direct control of an action game with the strategic maneuvering more typical of tactical RPGs. Customize your platoon with any of the 50 upgradeable playable characters to suit each mission, and navigate the twists and turns of the gripping storyline, knowing the fate of a nation rests on your actions.

This is a PS3 exclusive that has been out for some time but holds up well and did not receive much fanfare outside of critics. You command a small army/unit against those that oppose them, using sort of a mix between turn-based strategy and tactical games. Different units have different strengths, weaknesses, and so on. It's hard to compare to anything else but I'm a person who really enjoyed games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, and so on. Highly recommended.

I think by now many people have seen/experienced an Ipad or know what it's about, but after finally getting one for the home, I can say that it's as nice as I expected. Having experience with both Apple and Android devices I can say the apps on the Ipad/I devices are vastly superior, with some minor exceptions. You're also able to do much of what you would probably hope/expect with the exception of calling. We love it for Netflix, Hulu, games, educational games for our daughter, etc etc. Not being able to run flash on some websites is a nuisance but not a deal breaker.
