Good but still has issues

I now have 3 Chromecast Audio devices in my house. I bought more when they went on sale and Google added the ability to group them to do concurrent audio in multiple rooms on multiple devices. When it works, its great. No lag between them so they are all playing music together.
However, there are still issues and not just with the groups. I use Plex as my main music app. When streaming audio, it plays great and the quality is better than using Bluetooth. I have issues when my phone screen times out and there are times the app loses connection to the Chromecast audio and it can be annoying getting it to reconnect. There are times I need to force close Plex app, Chromecast app or occasionally have to reboot the Chromecast itself. Not the end of the world if you have some technical capability but for the non-technical user, this could be extremely frustrating.
I'm sure there will be updates to fix some of this and at the end of the day, I really enjoy the product for what it does. As I mentioned earlier, I think its a much better solution than bluetooth where the quality can sure be lacking at times.

It's the early 1960s and fifth-grader Scotty Smalls (Tom Guiry) has just moved into town with his folks (Karen Allen and Denis Leary). Kids call him a dork - he can't even throw a baseball! But that changes when the leader of the neighborhood gang recruits him to play on the nearby sandlot field. It's the beginning of a magical summer of baseball, wild adventures, first kisses, and fearsome confrontations with the dreaded Beast and it's owner (James Earl Jones) who live behind the left field fence. I can't say I'm a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks' book to movie titles all the time. I end up watching them because my wife likes to see them. Even though it wasn't "true" to the book in how the story unfolded (so I'm told), I did enjoy this movie more than most of the other Nicholas Sparks book to movie titles.

Can I connect it to my car aux so that I can play music wireless.
You would need an independent wireless network in your car. These need a wifi network to work properly. Technically, it could be done but not by just using your phone and chromecast audio itself

Can I cast to 2 different receivers at the same time?
I have 2 receivers- 1 in my bar/game room and 1 in the living room. I would love to be able to listen to the same thing throughout the house (yes they are on the same wireless network) if I hooked these up to both AUX ports in the receivers could I cast to both at the same time so I would have everything play throughout the house?
Your best solution is to get two Chromecast audio devices and once they're hooked up to your wifi, you can create a "group" of them (using the Chromecast app) and then stream your music to both simultaneously.
I do this with 3 Chromecast Audios across my house.

Is the power cord just for charging the Chromecast device, or does it need to be plugged in for power to operate?
There's no battery in the Chromecast audio. It needs to be plugged in for constant power.

You either need a 3.5mm to RCA (red/white RCA) adapter or a 3.5mm to Toslink adapter and you could then hook up using an optical cable, but yes, it should work with that setup.

Cast mp3's from networked desktop computer
Have a few hundred GB mp3 music on networked desktop. Use JRiver, Windows Media Player or VLC media players to play. Can I cast the mp3's to a chromecast audio connected to my receiver using one of these programs? If not is there an app on Chrome that would access the mp3's on hard drive so as to cast them to receiver without having to upload them to Google Play?
I used to do something similar with my music. I've moved all my music to my Plex (https://plex.tv/) setup and use either the desktop app or the mobile app to steam my music to my Chromecast Audio.

I wish to rip my CDs into hi-res audio (96KHz/24-bit). Is there a Chromecast-enabled hi-res media manager available?
Setup Plex (https://plex.tv/) and add your music to your Plex library and enjoy. Its great for Movies, Music and TV series you own and managing your own media.
