I could not use it...GB too high

I could not use it, GB were too high for my older camera. It created a bit of a problem as I purchased it for a trip to Ireland. Could not take pictures the first couple of days until I figured out the problem. The sales clerk did not ask specifics concerning my camera, simply "is it a point and shoot"? Would have been nice to know it was not the correct size!
