good value for the price

I've had this for a few months and not had any problems. I spend hours at my desk every day and need a desktop, not a laptop. I reluctantly bought this because MS dropped support for XP. From a hardware perspective, this computer works fine. My biggest adjustment was Windows 8.1 although I've tweaked to the point that it's acceptable.
It takes less space than the old Dell tower it replaced with more disk space, memory, etc. inside. I'd be more enthusiastic if my old XP machine did not do everything I need a computer to do.
When I worked as an independent software consultant, I spent much more on equipment because I needed it and could justify it. Now retired and freelance writing as a second career, this lower priced option works just fine. I was never one for computer games.

could not get used to shape or feel

I really tried to adjust to this supposedly ergonomic keyboard but after over a week of daily use I still kept hitting wrong keys so I returned it. I bought this because my new computer came with a chiclet and I've never liked those, but I'd rather deal with the chiclet than this thing.
The chiclet went back in the box it came in and I'm using the keyboard from my old computer even though the letters are wearing off the keys!

This economical, simple device has given me peace of mind to continue working when a thunderstorm is approaching. I live in a rural area, so sometimes we lose power for no apparent reason.
I wish it didn't beep so loudly when I shut it off manually. When I work at night, the beeping sometimes wakes up my husband.

extra hard drives
I have hard drives on my current computer with movies/music etc. Does this have open slots to add another hard drive?
Model 500-214 does not have a spare slot but I connected an external hard drive via a USB port.
