If You Seek Slow and Romantic Look Elsewhere

One of those few movie albums I have bought without seeing the movie, so I get whats coming to me. And I know you have to review the music for what it is, not what I wanted it to be -- which was smoother, blue, possibly jazzy and hopefully romantic. This is rather more snarly than that, guys half my age should love it. I like some of the treatment of the older songs -- "Beast of Burden" is the original Stones classic; I loved the Frank Sinatra Witchcraft track. So I thought there would be some contemporary artists styling that groove. I did like many of tracks I'd never heard before; some of it is great driving music. And much of it is growing on me. But slow, contemporary romance with a groove it is not.

BluRay Does the Trick

Ray Liotta made a well deserved name for himself as an actor in this film directed by Marty Scorsese, and it is thrilling to see again on BluRay. In theaters this movie was never without its grain and dark areas, which survive in this print (BluRay.com gives its image 4 out of 5 stars) -- but that's not bad; this film looks crisp and sharp and every bit as good as the original theatrical release that shocked, excited and amused. Its so much better in blueray. The immortal and terrifying "You laughing at me? Then what are you laughing at?" scene with glinting eyes in pitch black darkness fully reveal the devilish delight of the actors is worth the price alone to get the bluray. A full surround track amplifies Muzzle flashes in the dark and headlights and full details on the period cars (often shown at night, when these guys are most active) make it all the more worthy.

Great Flash for Selective Use

I may go back and get this again; it did a nice even job of spreading the light and was a huge improvement over the a6000 built in flash (which itself is not a bad little flash). But I was of the understanding this worked the integrated shoe, taking both intel and power from the camera, with batteries as an option. Turns out, it requires the AA batts, and for they type of work I was doing (30 flashes req'd in about 5 minutes of work), the batts just weren't up to the task. It did about 5-6 very quickly, but natural drain pulled it down and could not keep up after that. Camera and flash did a nice job of working together for some very nicely lit shots. However, the need for rapid flash does not come up all that often, and this little guy was at least a 7 on a scale of 10 -- darned good for the price. Its a bargain if you just need it for a normal flash firing every minute or two.

Does this flash work with an A6000?
Yes, it works great with an A6000. Note the MIS shoe does not supply power to the flash; you put 2 AA batteries in the flash for power. It does a great job, and you can tilt the head up to get soft bounce light in situations like a room with ceiling (I would guess 12' or less high will give the best results for that technique. It is full automatic with that camera.

Any Sony camera with the Multi-interface shoe * will work. It does not supply power to the flash; it DOES work with camera for instant adjustment of exposure values to shoot a good photo.
