The tv hdmi's are bad can I use the USB/ HDMI adapter work? To use Roku stick?
This has a male display port and a female HDMI. Receives signal through the DP and out the HDMI to an HDMI cable. I don't think it'll work for a Roku to your tv.

I have an NVIDiA GTX980 video card in my PC. The single HDMI on the GTX980 is being used by my Oculus Rift. Can I use this adapter to connect to the Display port output from the GTX980 to connect to HDMI on my monitor with an HDMI 2.0 cable?
Yes you can! I used it for the same reason, except I have a 1080 and the HTC Vive. Dongle worked great!
