If you are looking for a simple, and fast hard drive that is compatible with a Mac and PC with a straight forward honest price then this drive is for you. Only issue is some times the hard drive isn't quickly recognized and it comes with a bulky power cord.

Windows Vista to Windows 10
I've just purchased a new laptop (Windows 10) and need to back up my old laptop (Windows Vista). Will this external hard drive be able to do this easily? I will then want to take the backup and load on to the new laptop.

Can hardware encryption be turned off?
I just want to keep an extra back up copies on photos (nothing "confidential". I don't know how encryption works, but want to be able to use the back up files on any PC without doing anythign special or remember passwords, etc....

how do I program wd my book 4tb. for quik movie download and veiwing.
How do I use wd my book for movie storage and viewing on my TV?
I simply connected the hard drive to my smart tv using the use 3 port and can easily access movies. In addition, definitely organize by name makes it easy to find what you are looking for

Can this provide auxiliary storage for a DirecTV DVR, using a SATA cable?
DirecTV DVR's have SATA ports that enable external drives to be connected. The DVR will format the drive, and the hard drive inside the DVR will be inaccessible while the external drive is connected. Does this drive have an SATA port, and does it come with an SATA cable?
I did not notice a Sata port on the hard drive. I noticed a locking mechanism and a power cord outlet. That is a great question to ask a best buy employee
