Figured I would go with the recommended. When you spend that much money on the main appliance, why wouldn't I want the proper hoses that come highly recommended, for minimal costs.

The cycles I have used seem to do a pretty good job. I'm such a sceptic when trying new machines, but have been pleased so far, and hope that all the fancy electronics will last many years... You will hear about it if it doesn't . It was an adjustment for me with the long cycles, but there are options that allow for a quick wash if I need it. Also can add more laundry later if I forgot something. Lovin it so far. My cloths seem to be clean , and I use the sanitizer cycle on all my towels and wash cloths at night (2 and 3/4 hour cycle) so it's not that big of deal.
