I use this to extend my Wi-Fi downstairs, but I also use it to connect the extender to some peripherals using the five ethernet ports. One or two of my peripherals are not WiFi capable, so this really helps.

what is the lock on the side of the memory card used for???
When locked, you won't be able to take any new photos on the card. It literally locks whatever photos you have on the card. Once you unlock you will be able to add photos.
