When using -r,+r or +rw how can i plase 2 recordings on dvd and not erase the first recording?
Only on -rw can you place and remove/or add to the disc. All others are one time only writes.

can Gateway NV5378u Notebook have 8gb memory in it if i get 8gb memory
No according to Gateway support (https://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/nv/nv53/NV53sp2.shtml) you can only put up to 4 gb of DDR2 in it.

No, you must get Apple style RAM. I just did what you are wanting to do for someone else and their system refused to startup
