Another hilarious movie by Mr. Perry. A little blue, but appropriate for teens and up. A few bits of profanity, but not overboard with it. We truly enjoyed it.

This is one of the best, in a cavalcade of great animated classics that Disney created. While the book itself was rather snarky and somewhat sarcastic, in the movie, Pinocchio was transformed from a sarcastic little brat into a creature who was often inveigled into large and costly errors because of his innocence. The fact that he didn't know any better was actually at times a saving grace as he and Jimminy Cricket found themselves in real danger, thanks to Honest John and his cohort, Gideon. Stromboli the puppet-master lived up to his name as the thundering conniving man who had enslaved Pinocchio into his service, and the chubby, cheerful, Coachman was a truly terrifying being that used the power of an island to turn bad boys into donkeys for profit, a clear warning that the face of evil isn't always an unpleasant one. Seeing the unfortunate Lampwick turning into a donkey was and still is a terrifying sight to this day as was the final confrontation Pinocchio had with Monstro the Whale, a huge creature capable of swallowing whole ships, in order to rescue his father, who had been looking for him, giving his all to become a real boy. This is one of the true gems in classic animation, and one not to be missed.....

I get that every time comic book characters get a new adaptation (whether it be movies, animated series or traditional comics) they're going to change to the vision of the writer, however, this vision was pretty misguided.
I felt like the movie was trying too hard to convince me that these were "bad guys" without actually letting them be bad guys (does that make sense? lol). The humor also felt a bit forced to me, and there was wayyyy too much Harley/Joker backstory detracting from the story. I understand that they need to introduce the characters, but a lot of it was unnecessary to the plot--save it for a batman movie.
Also I feel a more covert, out of the public eye mission would have been better for a story line instead of a large-scale mass destruction of the city route they took. It didn't really fit the characters and felt like a generic superhero plot that they just happened to drop the suicide squad into.
Lastly, it's called "Suicide Squad" for the reason that a lot of the characters are supposed to get killed off...but in this they don't. If they want to save Deadshot and Harley for future movies I understand, but you need to make some of the other ones more expendable.

I am a fan of BBD and I am always amazed how they continue to evolve their music to remain current and mainstream. This tune is definitely going to become one of the BBD classics.

Another great flick from Well Go USA. I haven't been disappointed from their movies yet. If you like zombies, you should watch this one. It has a bit of everything to me. I laughed, it was tense, and just overall really fun. Not to be missed.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was a gaming masterpiece. There are probably not a whole lot of people out there that would argue that fact. However, there are probably a great deal of people out there wondering if they should get this if they already bought AA. Simply put.......no.
In a nutshell, the plot is simply "Joker takes over Arkham Asylum and releases all sorts of baddies. Batman tries to stop him." The game hasn't changed much since it first came out and if you enjoyed AA almost a year ago, you can expect the exact same game this time around. Nothing has really been revamped, altered, or changed up. However, the biggest surprise for me was how well done the 3-D is. While the glasses are little more than cardboard blue and reds from the past, somehow Darkworks/TrioViz managed to avoid the tinting that those glasses used to give. It's still there a little bit, but at least the image isn't in blues, reds, and purples the whole time. You can actually notice various shades. Once your eyes relax, the image is clean and clear with very little in the realm of headaches or eyestrain. However, it doesn't hurt to pause or stop every once in a while, take off the glasses, and give your eyes a rest. Instead of being "popping" 3-D, it is more of a "passive" 3-D effect. To clarify: In so many 3-D experiences the image comes out at you as if it might hit you, this 3-D effect is more like the TV is simply a window and the depth starts from the screen's edge. Don't expect to try and dodge cheesy "in your face" moments. There is depth, but it far more subtle. For the gamers out there who wear glasses, fear not. The 3-D specs still fit over glasses, although I am sure it looks about as cool paisley polyester tracksuits. The passive 3-D has one big perk though, your friends can watch you play without the glasses and the 3-D "double exposure" look is minimal to non-existant. However, for all its style, it still feels gimmicky. Sure, it's cool, but I probably won't be playing through more than once with it turned on.
The extra challenge maps are nice, but since anyone can download them for an extra 7 bucks... Well, it doesn't really justify the price for older owners. For those unfamiliar, the extra maps are "Dem Bones" (Scarecrow Challenge maps) and "Crime Alley" (um....do I really need to explain that one?). The "Play as the Joker" maps are there as well. Pretty much everything you could have added over the last few months is there on one disk.

Dracula Untold plays out similarly to Disney's Maleficent, where it isn't necessarily a remake or reboot, but a retelling, a 'what if this was actually how it happened'-style movie. The film follows Vlad the Impaler as he looks over Transylvania as Prince. But when the Turkish Sultan Mehmed II comes calling for a thousand boys from Vlad's kingdom, he decides the only thing he can do is confront the demonic force that lay within Broken Tooth mountain, where Vlad previously encountered the creature. Bestowed the unholy gifts of being a vampire, Vlad has three days to protect his kingdom, his family, and fend off the Sultan. But if he is to give into the thirst within those three days, he will remain this beast for eternity. Fighting the thirst, the Sultan's army and his own psyche, Vlad, a man of death who wanted to become a man of peace returns to his old ways in order to save those he cares for. But at what cost?
Dracula Untold is good filmmaking and story-telling, giving us a romantic tale mixed with themes of redemption, vengeance, courage, but most importantly, fear. Many people have criticized the depiction of Dracula, but again, this is a retelling. You can't think of Dracula the same way as you did in the Bela Lugosi '31 film or in Bram Stoker's Dracula in '92; this is a different monster, yet familiar. Luke Evans' performance, though, was without a doubt award-worthy and heart-wrenching; the man needs leading roles, because his talent cannot be contained. The supporting cast was good, but no one in particular stood out more-so than others. The visual effects, for the most part, were astounding but some scenes did need a little more work. The musical score from Ramin Djawadi was superbly dark and hauntingly epic, as if channeling his work on Game of Thrones into a more "Lord of the Rings" style score, with epic choral vocals and orchestral melodies. Gary Shore's direction was great, definitely in helping create the dark, grim and violent world of Dracula Untold. The script was good in that there was nothing cheesy about it, but there were many plot holes; the film should have been at least twenty minutes longer to add to the thin back-story.
Overall, Dracula Untold is a valiant and good effort, but falls short of being the vampire epic we deserve. But, the film is saved greatly, due in no small part to Luke Evans' acting, the visuals and the storytelling.
