I use the unit with some third party Software(Xpadder) and control my Home Theater Personal Computer and my son uses one for PC Gaming. I use mine at about 15 feet but I know it works much further than that. These things are build well. Remember to get the one for the PC, it's different than the regular controller because it includes the USB Dongle.
