does this have the new ac technology
This is an "N" router, so it does not have the faster 5g speed like the "1900" models do.

Do i have to have Enternet service at all in order for this router to work?
You need Internet service from someone like Comcast or Verizion to start with. From there, you could use thier modem/router. From there, it depends on the devices in your house, if they have wireless, you should be able to connect to the router and get on the internet. If not, you would have to be hardwired with an ethernet cable to the router.

Will this alone connect me to the internet?
Can I just purchase this or do I also have to find a company and purchase their internet service as well? Don't know much about this process so any help would be great.
No, you must have a service provider who runs a wire to your house such as comcast (cable) or verizon (fiber). Then you can buy a modem or use their modem. From there, you connect a router like this into the modem. Most providers now a days provide both a modem and router with their Internet service which works fine for most people.

The specifications state this has an integrated modem. After opening the box and trying to hook this up I find it says I have to hook up to a modem. So what does integrated modem mean?
No, that model does not appear to have an integrated modem with it.

Does this router also serve as a wireless access point for bridging? Can it receive wireless signals from other wireless routers?
You would want to hardwire the two routers together and then use the second one in bridge mode, it would be the fastest througput.

Can you verify that it's lighted?
The description reads, "Braided, lighted design". Please verify that this one has flashing red lights (presumably LED) all along the length of the cable similar to your non-braided models.
