I find the Bond films lacking since Sean C,. lost his "00" number. Sir R. Moore had potential but when the toy stores started with the 007 action figures and an opening scene theme offered the viewer an old Beach Boy favorite the films became "G" rated hitting an all time low with Jaws' space station love affair in "Moonraker." An anticlimactic end to a potentially successful Ian Fleming invention. With the new Bond, Daniel Craig, performing the lead here, there was a possibility of a rugged resurrection of something entertaining for the mature adults. However, even this adult (re)viewer from San Francisco soon tired of the shirtless scenes and another frantic high-speed foot chase rapidly becoming the trade mark of Mr. Craig's director and story writer. The time is right for an older Bond who might rely upon his thinking abilities instead of shoot outs, underwater autos, and other science fiction gadgets.

I'm usually disappointed viewing a film after reading the book - not so here. My best recollection is that the characters followed the book with only minor deviations. I also enjoy Glen Campbell even though his acting here seemed a bit forced/unnatural or maybe that was the way the character was to be portrayed ...? After all, he always carried his end of the log on his TV show. I recently heard he's ailing with something incurable. I'm gonna miss 'em. The "special features" offer very interesting information for the average film buff.

Two classics, both with Bogart. Whenever there's a good DVD for under ten bucks I always bite. This package provided two great old classics at a very reasonable price.

Director Bruce Beresford's Oscar-winning adaptation of Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play arrives on DVD in fine form in this Special Edition release from Warner Brothers Home Video. The feature is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, accompanied by audio rendered in closed-captioned Dolby Digital Stereo, French Dolby Digital Stereo, Spanish Dolby Digital Mono, and optional English Spanish, and French subtitles. In addition, viewers can go behind the scenes for three featurettes: "The All-New Miss Daisy's Journey: From Stage to Screen," "Jessica Tandy: Theatre Legend to Screen Star," and the original 1989 featurette. Feature-length commentary by director Beresford, writer Uhry, and producer Lili Fini Zanuck is also included, as are writer/director/cast highlights, awards notes, and a theatrical trailer.
