Can I use this only as an external HD? I do not want to use as a Back Up.
yes, you don't have to use it as a back up. just format the drive so your preferred file system type and go from there. :)

How many photos will Seagate Mac 1TB hold? I have almost 7000 on my computer!
hi, I'm not a complete expert but a 1TB hard drive is MORE than enough storage for 7000 pics . I'm a DJ and I have over 1000 songs and over 50 movies on 1TB drives. I'm sure you'd be ok.
