I was unhappy when I found that component video would not convert 1080 I to HDMI as I have a DVHS tape deck. I had to go straight to TV.

HDMI issues

I bought this unit to replace a Pioneer VSX-31 that the HDMI board failed. This unit has two HDMI outputs that allows two TV's to be connected to my Dish Network receiver. The HDMI outputs drop the signal and the receiver has to be cycled off and on to restore the signal.
Pioneer seems to have issues with their HDMI boards. There are only two digital inputs, a coaxial and a optical and they are not able to be assigned to any input, only those that show up in the menu that have a digital option, such as the DVD input. This limits the flexibility with older components such as a DVHS or a LD player. This receiver is not HDCP 2.2 compatible but that is not a issue in my family room. I would not recommend this receiver for your home theater.
